Letter from Jaime

can remember being about 10 years old on vacation with my parents and looking through the hotel magazines for the top restaurants in the area. I took my food very seriously from a young age, I was never asked to finish my meals as a child and was always eager to try something new. At 25 my career as an Event Co-ordinator was developing yet I found myself searching for something that was missing. It soon became clear to me that I wasn’t doing what I was passionate about. Happiness in a career to me was supposed to be based on not living to work but working to live. Some soul searching taught me that I needed to evaluate the tools that I had been given and the passion that I had developed over the years that was mainly centred around food. This led me in the direction of NYC where I spent months training at the French Culinary Institute (now the International Culinary Center). There I received a diploma in Classic Pastry Arts. I returned to Trinidad and having found my grounding, I moved out of my childhood home, got married and then opened my first business, J’aime Pastry. It began as a small business providing cakes and cupcakes for special occasions. Now, three years later it has developed into a private catering business, catering events for as much as 400 people.

Now it is with great joy that I welcome you to join me on to the next chapter. With the creation of this website I hope to expand on my idea of opening something that can cater to the needs of those that are in search of an exquisite culinary experience. Here, you will find items that can be a part of virtually any special occasion in your life, though it doesn’t have to be a special occasion to enjoy something from us. Browse through our extensive menus where you are sure to find something appealing to you, visit my blog for easy recipes that you can try for tonight’s dinner, or check in on my “best bite” that suggests the latest culinary adventure in Trinidad. J’aime Pastry is designed to share my passion for pastry with you, and I hope it can help to bring a smile to your face, the same way it did for me.
